The idea of treating your classroom and school like a punk show might sound a little wild but there was something magical about those halls and basements where Mike and Josh spent their punk rock youth.

The idea of "do it yourself" is a crucial part of the punk rock scene. Punks put on their own shows, recorded their own albums, made their own merch, and flat out built a scene that they owned. That DIY ownership can be brought into our classrooms and our schools!

Passion plays a giant role in a punk show. Bands playing their hearts out in little venues getting the crowd to bounce a long. It wasn't about flashy lights or stage shows. It was about playing like you were on fire. Our classrooms can be the same.

If punk rock taught us anything, its that we needed a scene and a crew to get us through. The same is true about our classrooms and our campuses.
